Description

In Federalist Paper No. 26, “The Idea of Restraining the Legislative Authority in Regards to the Common Defense Considered,” Hamilton advocates for the government to have unrestricted power to organize and maintain a standing army.

Disagreeing with some of Hamilton’s thoughts in this paper, Morgan Zegers asks the question – where do we draw the line between giving up freedom and liberty in exchange for security through the government? And is the risk of having a standing army greater than the risk of not having one?

Join Morgan Zegers weekly on Freedom Papers for a conversation that focuses on the necessity of America's most important manuscripts and the debates surrounding them!
